I am on a trip in a different country, and a couple nights ago I met this girl at the bar.  Prostitution is huge here, but this girl wasn't a prostitute, or at least she didn't charge me anything.  Anyways, she gave me oral sex with a condom on and we were pretty much just making out the entire time.
I have heard that HIV infection is low risk through kissing, but am still worried because about three-five days later I got a really bad sore throat as well as a cough and I have had a lot of phlegm.
I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Pharyngitis, but this doctor only looked down my throat and asked my symptoms and said "you have pharyngitis, gave me a shot and antibiotics and sent me on my way.  I understand that sounds sketchy but this was one of the most popular doctors offices  in Thailand (where I am vacationing).
Anyways, my friend freaked me out when she told me that Pharyngitis is a symptom of HIV acute syndrome disorder or whatever its called.
Is there a test I can get or do I have to worry for 3-months before I can get the real test.  Also have you heard this situation before, where someone gets Pharyngitis days after having oral sex and kissing with a girl he has no idea anything about.
Thanks!

I dont think there have been any documented cases of catching HIV from oral. I am sure you are fine. :) I know easier said than done....or thought...

Probably everyone here has had your symptoms and is negative.  Symptoms mean absolutely nothing, and yours aren't even likely ones.  And you had very safe sexual experiences.

If you're worried about it, the only way to know is to take a test.  Good luck, and let us know.

It would help if you said what type of risk you had.
