I went and had a HIV antibody test today, four weeks from potential exposure. I told the doctor about what had happened. That I had unprotected drunken sex with a stranger. While she was preforming oral on me she scrathed the head of my penis and drew some blood. A week later I had a slight fever and feeling unwell for 2 weeks. It wasn't like flu or anything, no cough etc. I also think glands in my neck may have swollen a little bit. But, not to sure to be honest!
Today the doctor told me not to worry, and that HIV in the hetrosexual community is 'rare' and 'unusal'. I'm pretty sure she was just telling me this stuff to reassure me. When I described my symptoms to her she told me that not everybody infected with HIV suffers from primary symptoms. But, the people who do generally have a 'very bad' flu like illness. She said if I was suffering from ARS, it would feel like I was having the worst flu I ever had. She said people who suffer from ARS fall seriously ill for a few weeks. But, on this site and others, it says even you have 'slight' sympotms this may be ARS. Now i'm even more confused!
I also, have to wait a week for my results. It's going to be a long week!
