anxiety getting the best of me

this is probably trivial, but having a tough time getting it out of my head. i had protected sex with a girl who has a reputation for "getting around", but have no reason to believe she has hiv. she said she has been tested for stds and is fine.

the thing im worried about is that after we finished we noticed there was a decent amount of blood on the floor from a  cut she got while swimming in the ocean about 30 minutes prior to this happening. can the virus live in the water? and if so, what are the chances of infection if it somehow got into my bloodstream through any small cuts or sores on my skin?

hopefully this isnt too confusing or stupid but im just trying to clear my head....thank you in advance

thank you very much....and this would be assuming she had hiv anyway....which is most probably not the case, right?

does anyone else have any opinions on this situation?

thanks again you made my day

You're right- this is trivial. :)

You can't get HIV from having condom protected sex. It's not "low risk"-- it's impossible! Condoms do work and do prevent HIV transmission.

The blood on the floor didn't just seep through your skin, and for it to be a risk for you through a cut, you would have to have a REALLY large, actively bleeding wound in which her blood was rubbed into it in sufficient amounts. Small cuts and sores on your skin are just not large enough to be a risk, and they would have to be bleeding.

You've had absolutely no risk from this exposure you've described. Kudos for using condoms =)  You're fine!
