cant stop worrying

hi, i posted a question yesterday but im about to snap. breif unprotected anal sex with a man for about ten seconds have ruined me, i cant stop thinknig bout it. 12days after the event i felt weak, all i have done is sleep the past few days, think i had the flu.some of my glands had swollen and had a runny nose, cought maybe a slight tempreture, im feeling better now but what is the chance of me falling ill with the flu, specially when i keep reading on here that hiv symptoms come within 1-4 weeks of exsposure.

i know the flu can give you swollen glands and other symptoms i exsplained above but im making myself beleive im hiv positive. i only wish that i got the flu off the guy at work that i was working with the week after but no one seems il in the house i live in.

i know i shouldnt keep looking on the net as it makes me worse, i feel sick with worry, i cant eat or anything.

I think you should get tested for HIV.  Receptive anal intercourse is very risky for HIV transmission.  Learn this lesson and never do it unprotected again.

People rarely ever lie about this type of thing, so I wouldn't be particularly concerned. Of course, I don't know how reassuring that is to you. The only thing you can really do is to get yourself tested.

How long ago was this encounter?

Symptoms are pretty much meaningless. They will not give you any hints with regards to whether you have HIV or not. Sorry, but that's the truth. Swollen glands can be caused by a zillion things, and only a physician will be able to accurately tell whether they are swollen.

You need to stop looking at the internet, and get yourself tested at 6 weeks and 3 months. Well over 95% of people who have it will test positive between 4 and 6 weeks..

Did you happen to ask this person about their HIV status?
