Should I continue PEP
Hello,
I had sex with a female escort (penis-->vagina) and the condom broke. Immediately when she noticed I stopped and proceeded to wash myself off with soap and water. I did not feel the condom brake so i don't know how long I was going at it before I stopped. She did stop me though so i don't know if she felt it that very moment. (I am uncircumsized)
Within 48 hours I got to an emergency room, and .........The physcician started me on Truvada-->Post-Exposure-Prophilaxis. For just four pills it cost $177 +$39 for nausea Meds. I do not have insurance so the cost will be enormous, by extrapolating maybe 2500-$3000 including doctors fees.
I keep telling myself that the risk is small but then I feel like I am playing Russian roulette with my life (even with all the advancements with HIV therapy). Id like to find out your thoughts on continuing the treatment? I go to see the doctor who will be administering the remainder of treatments on Tuesday.
She told me that she didnt have anything but.......this is a prostitute after all (though im just as bad as her for participating, and wont do this again.)
Are there any statistics on HIV transmission assuming that she did in fact have HIV?
Are there any statistics on HIV/Aids prevalence of escorts?

Your test results will be conclusive 3 months post your last dose on nPEP. Was she known to be HIV positive? If not, you didn't meet the guidelines on nPEP.
better be safe than sorry my man, continue your treatment... LIFE shouldn't have any regrets, and i can assure you if things turned for the worst, you would live with this REGRET for rest of your life so just continue with PEP and test after 3 months and live your life
