docter and hiv

Hi there, i recently saw a post like mine but it's a little diffrent. My gp took blood from me a few weeks ago. I had the blood test and now have the worst cold ever. I am ever so worried that i might have got something while he was taking blood. Now the needle was fresh and i did have reservations about the syringe but they said that they are all brand new and that they could not use if even if they wanted to. The worst thing is that my results took 1 wek to get back to me and they said it was because i had a needlestick injury and that they are keeping a sample.... are they allowed to do that?

i was reading that there was a clinice which re used the syringes in the usa and that could of infected loads of people. However when taking blood with a syringe that pulls would i ever be at risk with the pulling effect that they use? or would if have to be directly inserted and then pushed into my arm and would i feel that?

Any one that has any advice would be great
