I know it's hard, Nido, but you'll get through it (negative), man. I had a non risk event too with the strangest symptoms after. Just get your negative and believe in it. You'll be alright.
Thanks Teak. Your confidence gives me a lot of reassurance.
Well, so far I have had rash, high/low fever for 8 days, mild sore throat, dry mouth and white pathches on tongue (like OHL), fatigue and insomnia, aching joints, swollen lymph node in arm, easy bruising, UTI (frequent urination), mild diarrhea, hair loss, slow healing sores
I'm normally a very healthy person. The fever went after 8 days but 3 weeks later I still suffer the hair loss and UTI. Would this be normal with early infection, I heard all symptoms come and go at the same time.
You were never at risk for HIV and I don't see has why you would have a concern.
No I haven't been diagnosed with Lupus. I just used it as an example. It's just that I have so many symptoms of auto-immune disease (rash, fever, white tongue, frequent urination and hair loss etc etc). I would rather it all be due to lupus or thyroidism etc rather than hiv. I just want the 8 week tests to rule out hiv conclusively so I can put that out of my mind. I can deal the next couple of months figuring out what other condition I have if any. It looks like the RNA test actually screens for the virus.
It would probably be a coincidence to have another auto immune disease in the same hiv window period but not without justification.
I mentioned in my first post that days after my exposure with a CSW in Thailand (protected sex, used condom) I had a liposuction procedure. To clarify, this was a gynecomastia procedure to reduce what can best be termed as male breasts where they removed my mammary glands. This procedure is not known to create any side effects. However, it is not unreasonable to think that it might have caused a change in hormone levels and balance like estrogen which is suspected to trigger autoimmune conditions such as thyroid and lupus. My mom also suffered from thyroidism (had it removed) and my family has a history of cancer and diabetes.
Of course, I hope all of these are random symptoms, maybe just random surgery recovery side effects or the effects of anxiety.
Have you been diagnosed with lupus? Lupus is not a contractual disease and it can take months for it to be diagnosed.
I asked a similar question a couple days back but it didn't really get answered. I have not yet gotten tested (will do so next week at 9 week mark) but am worried that I might have lupus. If I do test positive due to presence of antibodies, aren't there other tests that actually screen for the hiv virus itself or can distinguish between different types of antibodies for different diseases? Is this what the western blot and pcr tests do? I don't want to wait for 6 months.
Crazyinmyhead... you truly are crazy. I suggest you phone the HIV hotline and tell them you have developed an obsession with being HIV positive and ask if they can give you the number to a psychotherapist.
I am not saying this to be mean but you have mental problems, it's a fact.
You do not have lupus, your mother has not secretly been putting you through chemotherapy in your sleep and you're not subconsciously an IV drug user.
YOU DON'T HAVE HIV, BE GRATEFUL YOU DON'T HAVE IT AND LIVE YOUR LIFE LIKE A HEALTHY PERSON IS SUPPOSED TO!
Lopus can cause false positives, but a 6 month test result would be reliable.
No! 3 months bro. by 8 months your body will have made a **** ton of anitbodies trust. put your mind at ease. if you are really worried get a Western Blot done maybe alittle PCR testing. those are the 100% gaurenteed or your money back tests.
But rest assured your CLEAN!
