Am I a hypochondriac?

I think I've convinced myself I have HIV. I've only ever slept with one person but we didn't use protection and I'm not sure how many people he's been with. I look up the symptoms of HIV online daily. The only symptom I've had was one swollen lymph node in my neck about a year ago. I had an ultra sound on my neck yesterday but the doctor said there's nothing there and it's normal. HIV is al I think about 24/7. I'm scared to take a test but i need to know. Can you ask your GP for a test? Do you have to wait ages for the results? I couldn't wait weeks I'd go crazy.

Trust me. If I had it I would not "move on" from it. I'd rather die. .

Saying something like that is highly insulting, especially to people like Teak, and Lizzie Lou (whose son in living with HIV).  I told you in the anxiety forum that HIV isn't the death sentence it used to be.

Most likely, you will be negative anyway...but if you ARE by some chance +, not knowing does NOT help you in any way.

You put yourself at risk, now it's time to "man up" and get tested, rather than worrying yourself sick (probably for no reason) for another year.

This forum has rules in place about excessive posting.  You've been advised aboiut testing...feel free to come back and report your results, but until then, we're not going to go back and forth with you.

The "move on" comment is in regards to this forum, btw.

Teak and the other are right, yes you need to test but you are making yourself worse psychlogically with your own fear.  You are making yourself a living hell over a disease that you more than likely do not have.

Why would you want to keep on tormenting yourself, get a test and then move on either way.  The symptoms of your anxiety are worse than anything else at the moment, you need to address this and the first step in an HIV test.

It not the like or not. You've been advised several time that you need to test. You can't be helped until you obtain your test results.

I'm not sure who you think you are telling me "that's enough". I can comment if I want to. I'm not going to stop posting just because you don't like it.

It's not anyones fault on this forum that you had unprotected sex and that you put yourself at risk. You've been advised to test, that's enough.

I'm sorry to hear that but that's not my fault nor does it mean that I'm not allowed to be worried or post on here. If you don't like it don't comment on my posts.

You tell me that when you've had HIV for 28 years. Now enough.

@Teak. "Get over the drama."? Why even bother commenting? I take it you enjoy trolling on here or making people feel worse.

Get over the drama, get your test. There is nothing more to discuss.

What if I do? I couldn't deal with that. It's easy to say "just take a test".

the odds are definitely with you...

better to go through life knowing you don't have hiv than going through life thinking that you do.

I'm going to I'm just scared of the results. I've only ever had sex/sexual contact with one person. I haven't eaten properly for months because of the stress. The doctor asked if I was worried about anything last time but I lied and said no.

Yes your doctor can do it.

If the fear of HIV is taking over your life to the extent that it has then you need to see your GP for:

1. A HIV test - although it is unlikely that you have it
2. Medication
3. Referral for therapy

@Kalu. You don't think I know that?

There's no clinics near me. Can't your doctor do it?
