hey im back

some people probably remember me a couple weeks ago i tested negative for hiv... and that left only 3 situations within the 6 week time period...2 blowjobs and protected anal sex a day after i got tested i went and saw a girl we had sex which i dont think i was emotionally ready for lol we used a condom and but we did kinda grind she rubbed my penis on her vagina for maybe 2 minutes...I read doctor hhh said that wasnt a risk at all i guess what im getting to is sometimes my armpits get sore but i dont feel any bumps like lymph nodes and my mom felt my neck and said i didnt have any raised ones there either so what would cause the pain in my armpits and my body gets sore sometimes too just a little feedback from the regulars would be awesome

Well then at 11/12 weeks I will be rest assured to have a reliable test!

It's just plucking up the courage to go get it done...Which is pretty damn stupid because IF i was hiv+ it's not going to go away with time so sooner or later is no difference! Try telling me that ;-)

ScaredUKGirl,

There have been documented cased from performing fellatio on male.  I do not know of any known or documented cased of that performed on females (cunnilingus), as Doc H will tell you as well he doesn't know of any cased for cunnilingus either. However, the risk, albeit small for male fellatio exists, I think you'll rest much easier after your 6 week mark. I don't think 11 weeks is necessary.  Especially if you haven't had fever.  Your risk is minimal if you asked your partner's HIV status or if you have already tested negative at 4 weeks, then the 6 weeks neg. result should put your mind at ease.  I think Doc has said that it is almost a 1/1,000,000 or somethign to that effect that if your 4 week result was a false neg (and your 6 week result became pos). Or something to that effect.  4 week result is almost between 90-95% reliable and 6 week result is 99% reliable of your status.

After that, if your neg. test result doesn't calm you, then seek some mental health counseling, it might be good for you and would allow you to talk about other issues that are bothering you in conjunction about your constant anxiety about having HIV. I might do the same. ;)

I have read that thread before and it is quite hilarious!

I read something before that says there isn't any evidence that anyone ever actually really did contract HIV from oral sex and that it is only what people have claimed. Unsure of how much truth there is in that.

I'm now at 11 weeks but I feel I have only just got over the 4 weeks of HELL of waiting for the results of my last test...Which of course came back negative but then I started becoming obssesed with this oral thing! But no one can deny that once you have this terrible thought in your head its HARD to let it go but we will all get there in the end!

Don't FREAK!!

listen..oral sex is LOW LOW risk, even if your partner had HIV.  Everywhere on the web, even the sites like CDC which are Govt. funded which have an overt and prudent responsibility to be conservative have said receptive oral sex WITH an HIV pos. partner is entirely low risk.  Even WITH swallowing, HIV tranmission is low risk, granted not as low without ejaculation, but low risk nonetheless. Everyone concerned about kissing and oral sex should read this post off The Body.com

http://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SafeSex/Current/Q174878.html

IT's HILARIOUS!!  but, it's VERY informative and Dr. Bob Frascino (HIV +) is extremely knowledgeable like Dr. H. and though more conservative with the efficacy and need for testing, he gives great answers.  Oral sex for HIV transmission topics are considered SO low risk a category that any new thread or post on it are either not answered (like here on medhelp.org, usually) or not posted to that category because Oral sex as a risk category for HIV is now nonexistent in the HIV prevention forum.  That should tell us all something.

See the other link I posted earlier in this thread which is a table for all sex with an HIV person, no condom of course.  It's too remote of a chance.  Also, ScaredUK, the reason you're left abdomen hurts is because the the spleen IS located there and it must be working overtime since you're FREAKIN out like the rest of us.  It is part of the lymphatic system and works in CONJUNCTION with the lymph nodes.  Don't know if your left abdomen or mine is tingling because of the spleen, but if it is, I'm not gonna worrry about it and stop thinkin about this.

Just wait to get tested at 6-8 wks. I'm sure you'll all be plzed with a neg. result.  As will I.  Ciao.

No I tested negative after coming out of a long term relationship...the test was 15 days after the oral thing that I am worried about so that wouldn't have been enough time for me test for that incident! I never ever ever ever realised that u can contract HIV from Oral sex until I started google searching then i FREAKED!!!!!

well...you tested negative...so rest assured you don't have HIV.  sounds like you definitely have an anxiety problem which can cause all the symptoms you listed.

I know how you feel.

But I realized one thing today.  The sooner I stopped thinkin about this HIV thing, the sooner I paid more attention to my work, normal daily stuff, my fav. football team playin this weekend, what I was gonna eat for lunch today, the SOONER my I stopped byeing hypersensitive to my body and my headache and lymph nodes, and I was fine!!!

Not that I am completely oblivious to my body and it's subtle changes, but I am not paying attention to every little ache or "tingle" or body temp. change.  I realize that my lymph nodes might be reacting cuz I touched them or cause I have stress, and that's it!  I don't have flu like symptoms (yet anyways), but I'm not gonna obsess about a 6/10,000 chance (acording to the link for the table of risks I posted above in this thread) (or, according to Dr. H, a 1/32,000 chance of me having HIV similar to that of a lightning bolt striking me dead)!!

Besides..another way I look at it, the more days that go by without me having a single day of even mild fever (I know when I have a fever)...the BETTER!!!  A fever, even a mild one is present in around 80% of HIV+ patients (according to a study done by a cohort of Dr. H at Johns Hopskins Univ.) That means, the clock is tickin for the virus to show its symptoms rather than the clock tickin on my years here on earth. A rather morbid way to look at it, but hey, if you can't contemplate numbers and risk the way Doc describes it, maybe this is a better way to look at it.

The human body is SUPER complicated.  Just look at all the other possible ailments, diseases, and their associated symptoms mentioned here on all the other forums of this website.  And stress and hypertension aren't even discussed on medhelp.or, not to mention some very possible mental and psychosomatic disorders and their associated symptoms.

Test results are the only way to know for sure, so I'm counting down the days with you, cause I too, can't let go 100%! But hopefully, let's reassure each other that we've got odds in our favor.

we're in it together. ;)

Hilarious.  We are both in the SAME worry boat.  But the difference is that you've already tested negative on a couple of tests haven't you?

I haven't even gone to my 6 week test yet! lol

Anyways, I'll keep you and everyone posted on here.  Hope you do the same. :)

Reading that actually sounded like someone was decribing my symptoms! Fever is the one sole thing I've not had. Not since I started using the thermo anyway!
I have days when I think 'I really don't have HIV' and other days when I am 100% convinced I do!!!!

yeah i dont think my nodes are even swollen i try and feel them sometimes and dont feel anything..im pretty sure i really dont have it some days its hard though i get neck cramps like in the back of my head and stuff but your right its just the right vs the left brain thing going on i dont even think im going to get tested again im just trying to slowly let it go its just gonna take a little bit of time i guess...what i was tryin to say was that my armpit sometimes gets a little sore never really both at the same time and i havent felt any bumps anywhere else and every once in awhile ill get a little fever i think if i was showing symptoms of hiv that they would be a little more clear cut and more severe

i thought that with lymph nodes pertaining to hiv if that symptom came up wouldent all of your nodes be swollen and hurt?

and maybe im wrong but with nodes wont all of them swell if it has anything to do with hiv if u are showing that as a symptom?

Believe it or not, your lymph nodes and your immune system are always active, not just when you have HIV.  If your armpit feels sore, your nodes there might be fighting some sort of infection in your arm.  The nodes may not swell, but they could be tender.  And as the doc says, symptoms are never a sign etc.,

As a fellow obsessor, I do have great empathy, but you have to eventually get to some rational and intellectual conclusions.  Having protected sex, rubbing, fingering, kissing, etc., isn't going to give you HIV and that if you don't let go of that, you will be severely dysfuntional in any relationship you enter into.  If you read the forum, you will see the same variants of the same question over and over and not one person has come back and said - yup, I'm positive.

Chill - love life; love your partners, be safe, but relax.  If you can't, see someone for counseling.

hey

First of all, Freakin Out, and everyone else, "freakin out", I think sometimes, you have to take a step back and take a look at the whole picture.  HIV needs more opportune and higher risk circumstances for transfer. Your risk wasn't nearly as risky as say needle sharing with a known HIV positive person or sex with a gay man who is also HIV positive.

See this chart, if this helps you:

http://ww2.aegis.org/pubs/mmwr/2005/r402a1t1.gif

I mean, my risk was greater than yours cuz I had sex with a man who was an escort (tranny), although I did ask if he was positive repeatedly. If interested, see post "Worried to Death" in HIV Prevention Forum),But I am doin my best keepin it together. But you are so way low risk than me, I believe, according to that chart above.

And ScaredUKGirl, I wanted to tell you that I think I am in the same boat as you, regarding my symptoms.  I at times am goin crazy.  It's been two weeks and one day, and I also have some minor tingly and short sharp shooting pains (not super painful) on my lower left side of my stomach.  I think my neck nodes are definitely are swollen but touching them like every hour on day 9 post exposure definitely didn't help. But I never touched my armpit lymph nodes which are swollen but my groin nodes, which I did touch, are flowing like the Nile!!   Keep in mind, no doctor has assessed my nodes yet, so I have know way of knowin till I do go to a professional. But none the less, I AM sensitive to that tingly and short light throbbing of my upper arm, and inner thighs.

I have some cramping in the middle of my back and the back of my neck and my left upper chest (where I believe some more minor lymph nodes are) is also lightly sore at times.

It's like I check my body temperature by touching my chest and forehead every hour with the back of my hand (haven't gravitated to the hourly thermometer check yet, although I can see myself doing that shortly).  It's like I am waiting for the fever.  Like, you know, I already had the headache between 4-11 days post exposure, and although minor now, I think I still have the headache.

Then I read up on the net about the sore throat symptom and now I find myself swallowing and drinking fluids to see if my throat has a "sore" feeling to it.

And of course after having been sitting in a chair all day in an office setting, I have very minor tightness in the back of my knees and sometimes elbows and wrists..

So finally, I'm like..well, "where's the he cherry I need to top of this sundae from nightmare hell?" --> the cherry being the tell-tale ARS  fever, however "low-grade"!! Am I in fever town yet??

But then I STOP, and say, I am the SOLE person causing these symptoms because I read about them, lose sleep, increase my own blood pressure and heart beat, and my body, because of all the stress, has to react! Hence my lymp nodes swelling (not to mention me poking at them! (Doc H says that once you poke at them, your lymph nodes may not go down for quite some time). It's hard to think logically from what the doc said on 10/13/2006 but I AM fighting the same thing we all are --paranoia, although arguably and arbitrarily substantiated, one might say.

To Freakin out 111:  You are battling Left-brain and Right Brain Syndrome, as Doc H would call it.. Your left brain says RELAX!! You are okay!  Don't wig out!  But your right brain says, "yes, but" and "what if?"  Like he said, the risk of our winning the national lottery on some of these exposures is the same as winning the national lottery.  The EBV virus, according to Doc H, is much more common to lymph node swelling and is no where as life threatening as HIV. Also, there are a number of studies indirectly linking stress and anxiety to symptoms of lymph node swelling, from what I have read. Look it up, though I don't suggest it, on google.

Try this INSTEAD, whoever wants to:

One thing I found that works for me as I countdown the days to Week 4, 6, and 13, is breathing. You can just sit in a quiet room, legs folded Indian style, close your eyes, and take deep breaths for like 10 minutes.  Take one deep inhale, hold for a second or two, and exhale.  Then take two deep inhales, hold for a second or two, and exhale, then 3 inhales, hold, exhale, etc. etc.  All the while, focus on a serene object, a rose, a picture of your beloved someone, vacation spot, whatever or whomever!  Whatever your thoughts are..it's koool, just don't lose focus on the breathing. DO that for five minutes.  I do it before I fall asleep too.

During the day, I do some minor stretching and breathing like that mentioned above.

So, we're all in the same boat, wiggin out for no reason.  Someone once said in one of these posts, that you should look in the mirro and say "I don't have HIV" like 20 times if that helps.  It might be overkill, but it sometimes works for me.

you have to take this thing day by day till you have if need be, one test at 6-8 weeks. If you're still wiggin out, then you have to admit you have a mental issue and need some counseling at some level.

Listen I have the exact same problems....
Headaches (real bad constant), muscle & joint aches (bad), pain in my left side where I believe my spleen to be, painfull nodes (but apparantly not enlarged) and me being the biggest ever worry fool I can ever impossibly imagine-Even I am TRYING to forget it...You have nothing to worry about! I still need to get a conclusive test but I have realised the more we worry the worse these 'symptoms' become. Sometimes I think Okay so they 'MIGHT' be related by the reality is...it's unlikely!!!!!!
