but i have to waite 2 weeks to find out which one it is since i got test for both through blood test!! can someone help me im verry depressed thinking i have to waite 2 weeks to see my results even though i tested positive for hiv i read that it can be a false positive if u had mono!!
There is a chance that your positive on the swab test was a false positive. It happens fairly often with the rapid tests. It is possible your recent sickness with another virus caused the positive. What was your exposure and when did it occur and how soon after the exposure were you tested?
sorry didnt notice i posted twice im trying to figure out this site!! I was tested 6 months ago for mono and it was positive and i tested negative for hiv!! I kissed alot and had unprotected sex with my ex who is negative for hiv!! I took rapid test for the first time and i feel that it detected the mono because i feel its mono not hiv but not 2 sure about how all this works!!!
If your ex is truly negative (i.e. she has tested negative outside the window period of 3 months and has had no exposures since that test result) then there is no possible way you could have gotten it from her. You most likely got a false positive- they are common with the rapid oral swab tests. I know many people who have tested positive on the rapid test then test negative with a regular lab-based test. Try to remain calm and just wait for your results.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! It means alot to me that you responded to this I been going crazy here!!! I was so sad due to all this and you gave me hope of the negative test coming back!!! Thank you again ; )
Mono is short for mononucleosis, a viral infection that causes sore throat, high fever, fatigue, and swollen, painful lymph glands. It's spread by close contact, but usually only spread by saliva, which is why people know it more commonly as "the kissing disease." Only blood work can diagnose a mono infection.
