hiv rash!! help!!

I have tested negative after taking a rapid hiv test 2 days before the 3 month mark.  Later that same evening I developed a rash on my arms, legs , back and basically my torso area.  It is itching and flat brownish in colour and seemed to spread all over. The sexual experience I had was unprotected sex with a male for about a minute (he didn't ejaculate) and a month later I got the flu...sore throat, fever, swollen glands, nausea....later after googled my symptoms i remember the terrible headaches i had for about a week before i had the "flu".   I went for the test like i said 2 days before the 3 month mark and the same night i started the rash which are still progressing after and it has been 7 days i had the rash now.  i am so scared because i am sure i actually are hiv positive!!

thats why I am telling you for the third time :A duo test is reliable 4 weeks after your last exposure (in your case in 20 days) and a confirmation is needed 3 months after (if negative) and without exposing yourself again within the window perios.

Reread what you ve been told. A duo test is reliable 4 weeks after your last exposure amd a confitmation is needed 3 months after (if negative) and without exposing yourself again within the window perios. Simple!

Accuracy of the test is AFTER the last unprotected exposure, not the first.

If your only exposure was your unprotected encounter with your ex then yes your test would be conclusive. But what concerns me here is that you had unprotected sex within the window period.

The duo test is not appropriate for testing if after 4 weeks post exposure.

Please try not to be exposed within the window period which is 4 weeks till the duo test and 3 months till the simple hiv antibody test if you choose to confirm. Until then try to keep calm

once more :

if you had had unprotected sexual intercourses within the window period from your initial exposure then I must advice you to test again. In order to be 100% sure about your status you can test 4 weeks after the exposure (and yes for me unprotected sex even with your boyfriend is an exposure). You can take a duo test and then confirm the negative result three months after your exposure. Till the result you can have protected sex with your boyfriend. Maybe it is a good idea for your boyfriend to test too according to the fact that he was exposed by your unprotected encounter.

Ok. You have been faithful to him thats a sure thing. I believe the same for him too. But I must tell you that if you had had unprotected sexual intercourses within the window period from your initial exposure then I can advice you not to test again. Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV.

If your exposure was what you describe here : unprotected sex with your ex for about a minute and then 3 months after this you tested negative ( with no other exposure in between ) then hiv is not the issue here.

But let me ask you something  : you and your boyfriend have unprotected sex?

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.  I am just so anxious since I notice that my boyfriend also getting the flat brown rash on his torsio and legs and back, experiencing sore throat and malaise and diarrhea ( the incident happened with an ex during a difficult time in my relationship, which I am not proud of) I am so scared, that is why I took the test and I know my boyfriend was faithful to me, now I am just scared the doctor gave me wrong test results because both of us have these symptoms now. The incident happened almost 13 weeks ago.

your result proves that hiv is not the issue here. Please try to control your anxiety.
Keep calm :)
