thanks for the advice.i dont realy belive anything is wrong with girl.i think that weeks of reading hiv things on the internet.that i've basicaly gave to myself.
Hi s.carter. A couple of points really - the likelihood that your married partner had HIV is very low - generally, HIV prevalence is very low in the general population (0.1%). Even if she was, the likelihood of you getting the virus from a single event is also very low - in the region of 1 in 2000. There are similarly low odds that you could transmit the virus to your girlfriend from a single encounter. Her negative test basically means you could not have transmitted it to her, but it does not have much bearing on whether you have it or not.
The bottom line is that you are very unlikely to have HIV, but the fact that your girlfriend is negative doesn't mean that you are negative. I think Dr H would say that he would not recommend testing for a single sexual encounter with a partner of unknown HIV status. However, the fact that you are asking the question suggests you are worried, so a test would help give peace of mind. If you decide to do so, you can expect a negative. It sounds like you are at least 10 weeks post exposure, so a simple Ab test like Oraquick would give you an answer in 20 mins...
