hiv testing help need advice

well my story is that i was having proctcted anal sex with a sex worker in mexico, but my condom broke and i never realize until i was done it was max 5 min cause of the sense of guilt that i started getting, idk what the hiv status of the sex worker is, so i started reading about test and window periods, saw that the most reliable test is the duo test 4th gen, so i went and got a duo test at 4.5 weeks after exposure, then at 7 weeks and last at 10 weeks, all the test were by CMIA method(is this test reliable?) i know the window period is 12 weeks, but stress is killing me right now, so thats why I'm here for some help. its my only encounter exposure I've had in my entire as i practice safe sex

1.have you guys ever seen or heard of 10 week negative duo test changing at 12 weeks?
2. does it really take more than 12 weeks for a conclusive test other than if you got pep or if you had like chemotherapy ?

thanks for all the people here that take there time to answer the forum questions. hope you guys can help me out with some answers thanks

Hello, you're doing the right thing by getting tested, as you stated only chronic health conditions would affect the window period.

You result is almost as good as conclusive and extremely unlikely to change, I haven't heard of a case like that, but legally speaking you would have to re test after 12 weeks unless a doctor tells you to skip that last test.

Please read what Dr. Handfield has to say about window periods.

Hope this helps.

Thanks alderick84. I'm just suffering from stress right now. But my 12 week/84 days after exposure is next Monday. Ima go get tested again. Hopefully my results are the same as my older tests. So 12 week is conclusive right

Sure, even by the most conservative standards 12 weeks is enough. I'm positive that your results won't change. Don't forget to post back when you have them.

I wish you the best.
