just paranoid

20 years old. 2 sex partners in life. first one 2 years ago, had unprotected sex a few times. more recent  partner, 4 weeks ago, protected, unsure if condom broke. after extensive research on STDS after hearing this girl(recent one) was rather promiscious, pretty much diagnosed myself with every god given  std.  The only difference in health since said occurance is that ive noticed my tounge looks kind of white, and my neck was sore for a couple days. A few things have eased my mind. doesn't dr HHH say that chance of HIV transmisson on one occurance of vaginal intercourse to be 1 in 1000? Is that true? What would be my risk factor

It's very mature to know your status.  You have to asess the girls you slept with.  Are they drug users?  Have they slept w/bi sexual or gay men?  Do they sleep w/drug users?  While they may have been "promiscuous," the chance that you got infected is low.  It's 1 in 2000 chance from woman to man per one time exposure.  I do believe you should test for hiv as well as all stds only to put your mind at ease.  (You have a much greater chance of contracting a bacterial std from unprotected sex b/c that is easily transmitted.)

you're proably ok...but if you're really worried, then get tested.  Nobody here can tell you if you're positive or negative.  With sex...there is ALWAYS a chance of being exposed.  So, to answer your question, the odds are in your favor...there little chance you've contracted HIV.  But nothing is 100% safe...so get tested.

Tons of data on here to figure your odds but I think you know the answer.  I suggest 1 of 2 or both things, get tested like everyone else here has been or is, and or pay $15 and ask the doc when he returns to the hiv prevention forum.

If all of the above is true though, you should be ok.  Vaginal sex is hard to transmit hiv for many reasons especially to a male.

First, want to ask why you are wondering if the condom broke. If it broke, I think you would know it. It's pretty obvious. What makes you think it might have broken during the act? Something the doc says that I like to repeat to anxious people: your chances are pretty low, even if the woman you were with was HIV + (which, again, as the doc says, she probably wasn't). If the condom didn't break (and again I question why you think it did), you're good.

So, if you're really worried, wait two weeks then go get an OraSure test, results in 20 minutes. I've heard the recommendation on this site that all sexually active people be tested once a year anyway, so consider this your yearly test. It will probably allay your fears to just go get the test and find out your negative (which you will be). Until then, be chill, you'll be just fine.
