Level of Risk

Hello all,
I guess like most people here I'm feeling anxious and panicky.  Anyway, my story is that 10 weeks ago I had protected sex with a sex worker in Germany (For the one and only time in my life I can tell you). However, I was very drunk and having real problems "getting there". So she took the condom off and gave me a hand job using lube.  Now my worry is the level of risk as I found out the next day when I woke up that I had a small tear at the opening of my urethra.  There would have been some of her vaginal secretions at the base of my penis, that in my thoughts would be smeared all over my penis. So I'm freaking out about my level of risk as it isn't as clear cut as the risks with sex.  I've had symptoms from week 2 starting with a swollen throat and stiff, painful neck and shoulders with only a mild fever.  Then at 4 weeks I had real flu symptoms (fever, aches etc.) that ended afetr 5 days with a cough that has plagued me since. I had a test done at 7 weeks that was negative (Antibody test for HIV 1 and 2, is this 3rd or newer gen?).  So does anybody have any advice on my level of risk and what confidence I should have in the test done at 7 weeks?

This never was an HIV situation.  Masturbation mutual or otherwise is not a vector of HIV transmission.
Furthermore, as your conclusive, yet an unnecessary, 7 weeks HIV test demonstrate, you are not HIV positive.

You can let it go completely.

Remember to use a condom everytime you have intercourse with a partner and you will be fine where HIV is concerned.  Beware of alcool and sex next time :)

Thanks for your comments.  The protected sex bit didn't give me to many worries as you can put a statistical number to it and feel confident of the low risk.  But, the hand job with tear and vaginal secreations, there isn't anything on so I was panicky. The drunken session with the sex worker in Germany wasn't too pleasent either.  Fortunately, it was a bit too 'clinical' so she was clearly protecting herself from any risk. The thought of which makes me feel a little better.  Plus, prostitution is legal over there requiring regisration and regular testing.  I read an article about a job centre over there sending a women, who had been out of work for a while, for a job as a prostitute. Since, they went legal it has become just a job.  Does it sound like I'm still trying to convince myself that I'm fine?

Protected sex is not low risk, it is NO risk.

You should not be trying to convince yourself that you are fine, your negative result, after your non-risk encounter, does that for you conclusively.

I guess you are experiencing a guilt / anxiety trip due to your sexual behavior...well that's no big deal and you are not alone.  But I would suggest that if you can't handle the pressure, change your behaviour or go and educate yourself about HIV and all other std (which are a million times easier to catch for some).

But for now, you are fine !
