what are the odds

Dear all,

I have just received my hiv test results 4 months after a possible exposure and it was –ve. But I still feel very strange things happen to me like I still have pain in my knees and abdomen and I get rashes on my arms. My risk was protected vaginal with low end brothel sex worker it was only $100 in Dubai. I was so drunk that I can’t recall if the condom was intact or not because she removed it not me. So I would assume that it was damaged which makes my chances 1/2000 if she was infected but I read in the expert forum that most CSW are not infected which makes my odds better than 1/2000 so maybe its 1/5000 I presume and then I had a –ve test at 4 months after the encounter which is 99.5% accurate as I read that 6 months only is 100% accurate so what are the odds that my test results will be +ve when I test at 6 months bench mark?

accept your negative status...put this behind you...and move on with your life :)

***IF THE CONDOM HAD RUPTURED...THE SEX WORKER WOULD HAVE BEEN UPSET ABOUT IT.  THEY DO NOT WANT TO CONTRACT HIV ANYMORE THAN YOU DO...HENCE THE REASON THEY USE THEM.

regardless of whether it broke or not...you have a conclusive reult.

If you tested using an FDA approved test then 3 months is conclusive.

Thank you all for your assurance.
But why then do we read that 3 months is 99.5% not 100% ? Wouldn't it be better to say that 3 months is 100% to reduce peoples anxiaty and help them in getting over it?

would you guys say I can practice non protetced sex ith my wife now?

Hi there,

Your 4 months result is conclusive.

HIV is diagnosed through a blood test, not through signs and symptoms. You will need to acknowledge the facts and reconcile with these facts.

Cheers!

12 weeks is considered conclusive according to new guidelines. You tested at 16 weeks, you can be 100% confident that you are conclusively negative. You do not have HIV. There is NO need to test at 6 months.
