infection risk

hello,my name is harish jaisawal,from bangalore(india)...this is the first time i have come to this site and i dont know what happens here but here is my story,today in my school,i was going to a teacher for some work and a 10th class student called me  in between and when i went to him,he pricked me with a needle.i complained this to my teacher.she said dont worry nothing to fear.i have heard that hiv can transmit through needles,is it ttrue,my friends say nothing will happen to me but i am not still sure..i dont know much about these things.pls help.it was not a needle but a pin to stick the paper,i think it is called paper pin....any risk?

dont confuse getting stuck with a push pin with getting stuck with a needle.

push pins are not hollow bore...meaning there is no hole in the end of it to trap blood INSIDE.  

you had no risk !

Not for hiv because it becomes inactive and unable to infect as soon as it is exposed to air.I doubt he pricked himself first,but even if he did your still safe.

one main thing-if the blood of him was on pin.still no risk...

hiv is not transmitted through environmental surfaces or inanimate objects.

why?

once exposed to air, hiv becomes inactive and unable to infect.

you had NO risk and do NOT need testing.

thank you sir,i have been refreshing this page many times.first of all thanks,but i want to ask you why there is no risk.can you expand some information.if he pricked it some seconds before he pricked me ,still any risk?

No risk for hiv transmission from a paper pin prick,that person is an idiot and you should have reported him to the headmaster.You have nothing to worry about,your safe.
