is this a risk?

Hi,

had protected sex with a female escort about 4 months ago. had a terrible sore throat 2/3 weeks later and 6/7 weeks after i saw the escort i had sickness, diaherra, night sweats, cold and a mouth ulcer. tested negative at 5 weeks and was happy i could move because i used a condom and a 5 week negative is a good sign by all accounts. now i have a weird bumpy rash on my knees, is this a symptom of hiv or std?

any help or advice would be appreciated. thanks

It's an extremely good indicator.  Look through the posts in the Dr's forums.  A modern ELISA test will detect 90-95% or more of positives by weeks six and 99% by week 8.

Why, do you want to be positive? .. That is silly question isn't it, obviously not. So if most people test positive by 6 weeks then a 5 week negative must be a good indicator yes?

Why, do you want to be positive? Geesh... Most people will test positive at 6 weeks, some will take longer. That is why the window period is 3 months.

i know that 3 months is conclusive but surely theres an average time frame where people turn hiv+?

The only thing that is conclusive is a test taken a 3 month or later.

95% accurate? I'm confused because I saw another post on this site saying that an 8 week negative test result is only 80% accurate?

is there any websites or info that show a chart/graph showing when people turn positive? i.e 3 week negative, 50% accurate, 4 week negative 55% accurate etc etc.

thanks

Sorry, I just see you did test at 5 weeks.  That's 95%+ accurate. And you were protected, so that doesn't even matter.  You don't have HIV from this encounter.

Most likely too late for ARS.  You had protected sex, so you didn't get HIV from this encounter anyways.  You don't even need to test, but if you're that paranoid, go get it done and let it go.
