Is pcr rna the same as viral load test?
"What HIV screening test would you do in a patient with CVID?
Patients with CVID can not produce an adequate antibody response to the HIV virus if infected and ELISA or Western blot are not useful. PCR RNA is the test of choise for HIV diagnosis in patients with CVID.
this is just one website that talks about immunocompromised individuals and hiv testing. "

havent been on here lately sorry bring bumping this thread. I personally have CVID(IGG and IGM deficiency) and have questioned my hiv ab screening results before. Hope207 has absolutely nothing to worry about he or she would know if they had an immune disorder I am just saying that there are ways to test out past 3 months that are not all that rare.
when you catch a common virus what happens--you get sick almost straight away and the immune system goes into battle for you,it's no different with HIV,the immune systems starts the fight very quickly once a person becomes infected.Stop worrying for nothing.
He would have been correct about 20 years ago but not now with the excellent, more sensitive HIV tests avaliable to us.
No, I am not
But J1990 mentioned that many cases seroconvert past 3 months including some healthy people.
That's my point exactly. Thank you.
I just explained it to you--are you a chemo patient or transplant patient on meds,my guess is you're not.3 months is more than enough time.
how can I know if I am immunocompromised?
Is there a particular test for that?
99% of people that post on this forum are not chemo patients or transplant patients on meds so latented serocoversion isn't even an issue.
I've only been reading this forum for a short time but even I can see that the nature of the questions posed here are not likely coming from people who would be truly immunocompromised in a way that would actually result in late seroconversion. The chances of a late seroconversion even in someone who is truly immunocompromised is rare enough as it is but the questions about it Here, on this forum, are from people who do not fall into that category. It's simple enough to see that if you spend any time reading some of the stories from people here who clearly have no concept of how HIV is actually spread from person to person. If it was as easy as majority of these people think, we'd all be walking around with it right now. So I think asking people about it is unnecessary because it's highly unlikely to ever be the case when they come here with their questions.
6 month HIV testing is not required,3 months will suffice.
chances are you have nothing..what was ur exposure? doubt it was anything but if it was from unprotected sex maybe test out to 6 months..
there have been several cases of people reporting late seroconversion past 3 months..Many of these people had compromised immune systems but some have been healthy..please do not listen to teak as he has never said anything valuable besides his regular snippy answers i can find several published articles showing seroconversion past 3 months(not trying to worry you hope you will be fine)..teak if u are reading could u please tell me why you post here? does it make you feel better about yourself? A caring person would at least ask if the original poster had any type of immune defects.....
Is there any other virus that cause general swollen lymph nodes?
You don't have an HIV concern, you've tested conclusively negative.
