* IgM antibodies are produced before IgG. They (IgM) usually appear within first couple of weeks of HIV infection and stay detectable for another couple of weeks before IgG production ramps up.
* IgM are not produced consistently during early infection; a significant fraction of infected people don't produce IgM at all.
* The first two generations of ELISA don't pick up IgM while the third generation does. Most rapid tests don't pick up IgM.
Even if IgM are not produced, the HIV tests would be just as reliable after the window period.
I agree with Vance 100%. If an HIV specialist cannot reassure you, how do you think WE would? You truly need to seek some help for the anxiety, rather than wasting your time and energy on something you don't have a concern for...HIV.
"just came from a doctor with specialty in HIV"-yet you want more people to reassue you? This is an anxiety post.
now you have right. and my questions are different. ok i admit that sometimes i need to verify but these last questions are very reasonable. i think ;)
I think you post out of anxiety.
