where to get a pcr rna test?

i wanted to know if this test can be requested by family physcian, and if insurance covers the cost?  if not, how much is the test?  i was in high risk situation recently and have been freaking about it since.

There is an anxiety forum if you can't find something to do with your free time.

wow, so the only test is the antibody tests, which take up to 3 months to be 99% accurate?  3 months is a lot of anxiety.

Should have read you can't be diagnosed with HIV by PCR/RNA alone.

It's not a stand alone test. You can be diagnosed by using a PCR/RNA test alone. Waste of money and time..

teak, out curiosity, why would i be wasting my time?  just have a lot of anxiety over this.

You'll need to talk it over with your physician. Most doctors will not order it. It not the norm of HIV testing so you will probably have to foot the bill out of your own pocket. You'll probably have to ask your doctor for a price. To be honest with you, you are wasting your time taking a PCR test. Stick to the antibody test.
