Can Rash appear 4-5 days after exposure to HIV blood?

I m a healthcare worker. I was exposed to HIV blood from a patient who was getting a burrhole. I was splashed with blodd. I had facial mask that had a tranparent part on the upper side. But I had blood on my forehead where skin seemed intact. I was wearing short trousers. So the nonintact skin just below my legs were exposed to air .
I rushed to water and foam soap immediately. under the transparent screen I had glasses. They were not blooded. Then I irrigated my eyes too just incase I had blood and did nor recognize it at that time. I looked at my feet, there weretiny blood dots on my shoes but I could not see in the dim light very well whether I had really blood on my nonintact parts. My trousers were spotless and I also soaped my neck and my ankles and my feet as quickly as possible. I did not see apparent blood on my ankles and nonintact parts.

The question is: This is the 5 th day. I have a rash red with raised margins. it starts on my right shoulder going down towards my trunk about 8 cm in length and 2 cm wide. It is burnng. No othe rlesions. I have never had urticaria in my life. There was no irritants causing this. I had worn my hanbag on the other site. I am worried:(((((( Can rash appear this soon?? My brother who is also doc said it was because I am anxious. That I have developed hives. ı never did before. And this one is localised. Has anyone know about rash appearing that soon???? Though I think that I washed with foam soap immediately and I saw no visible blood in the dimlight can I have caught HİV?grateful for answers.

Hi everyone,

It has been 3 months 10 days. I have had an Eliza and it is negative!
So what I have went through is just a simple tinea versicolor and sore throats(that recurred 3 times). I hope everyone has a haapy ending. Though I did not have a real risk I was very anxious. Thanks to everyone on this forum, who answer questions and help people who have noone to talk to.

If you look up Acute HIV Infection and the HIV article itself on Wikipedia, it says that it takes 2 to 4 weeks for the HIV virus to incubate inside of your body. I have never heard of it incubating as fast as 5 days.

There is not a doubt in my mind that what is happening to you is NOT being caused by HIV. A person who is experienced with infectious diseases and molecular medicine should be able to tell you this as well (my primary care physician specialized in molecular medicine).

Thanks for the reply. I had a facial mask that covered my eyes and also my glasses. But somehow I had it on my forehead. İntact skin.
But then I realized that I had two very little dots of blood on my yellow shoes too. I had a lot of new lesions on my ankles because of obsessive itching and a 24 hour red wet wound without a scab. I did not see any blood on mylesions. But I am really depressed. The man had high viral load.Though I know that large volume blood is needed even if there was splash of blood I feel depressed.  Because I had first a red lesion which turned out to be pytriasis versicolor, then a runny nose with a real sore throat. Then the sore throat came back on the 15th day.

and exactly "where" do you think your exposure was?  seems to me that you simply got blood on intact skin...am i missing something?  hiv doesnt just seep into your skin...and if you were a healthcare worker, you should know that.

Why has nobody replied me? I was really anxious. I got a scraping and KOH prep next day and yeast cells and pseudohyphae were seen.  2 dermatologists, told it was pytriasis versicolor, at first sight without hesitation.
I had applied oil on my skin, and the weather had been so hot and humid this summer and I thought it was because of this.

Then I started to have a wild running nose, sore throat. No muscle pain and listlessness. No swollen glands . No fever. It is all over too now.

Since nobody bothers to answer me, at least I can write here the developments and try to be helpful to those who are searching for info.

Until I saw this 2 hours ago, I was telling myself that I had no visible exposure other than my intact forehead. I had nothing to be scared. I am very scared now. Does anyone think that I should be tested for P24?
