Faintline dilemma....

I just got tested for hiv at the local clinic using the oral swap test. after 15minutes, the technician turned the swab around and from where I was sitting(3 feeet away) I didnt notice the second line, and took a huge sigh of relief. But then he said, no, there is a second line, and after looking at it from about 12 inches away, I saw the faint pink line. Now my last unprotected sexual encounter occurred in january and it was only one act, all others condoms were used. Can you give me some insight, because the tech said I'm reactive, and in his experience that this represents an early exposure and converting scenario. Help.

One follow up swab test that was negative, one home rapid oral, and a home rapid blood that was also negative! I think I'm good, but waiting for westrn blot now, regardless....abstinence is my new friend!

I gave blood which will be sent to the lab, but I have to wait 2 weeks for the results which is nerve wracking! I have been experiencing increase bouts of fatigue, burning sensations and dark spots on my legs and back. When I run, I've been getting a cramp on the left side of my neck, so I'm quite stressed. However, from what I read, sometimes those tests can be wrong. I have gotten a cold sore before, and just got over what seemed to be bronchitis...not treated. As I stated, the line was so faint that only the edges and ends were discernable. If I put it on the table and asked people to look at it without prompting, most if not all would say that there wasn't second line. This line business is ridiculous, there must be a better way to rate these things. I'm so stressed, the articles say that these test are so sensitive that they can detect other antibodies and show those as being a positive reaction, if so, what other diseases would cause such a occurrence? Thank you...

What did the tech tell you to do next?  Did you speak with a doctor about your results?  You would need to take a western blot to confirm or rule out infection.
