PEP is not advised unless the person was known to have HIV.

Would you guys suggest him to take a PEP? I am not an authority on this but maybe if he had sex today or yesterday, it should be considered?

Nervousnick, never trust people about their status on these matters. Most people that say they are negative they " assume" they are negative. Unless they have had an HIV antibody test and a proof on paper that the results were negative and they show it to you so that you see it with your own eyes, a person's status is unkwown, not negative.

if your partner hasn't had any unprotected sex with anyone else beside you, that would be a good thing though.

You'll need to get an HIV test. 3 months post exposure to get a conclusive result.
