Dear Sir,
I pose 2 questions for answering.
I recently exercised with a person which required us to do sit-ups and such. The person held down my legs as a did the sit ups. When the person went to lean on my feet, their long toe nail dug in and left a gash on my toe. It later bled, but was not gushing. Is there any risk of HIV transmission via a toenail or such? It did not appear as though there was blood on the person's nail.
My second question is: I was let a person borrow a pair of cloth wraps to wear during a kickboxing class. Immediately after class, the person gave the wraps back to me. The wraps were now wet with sweat. I touched them with my hands, but one of my fingers had a cut on it. The cut had occurred a day or two previously. What is the risk, if any, of HIV transmission via sweat through an open wound. Is it correct that HIV with in sweat is so minimal, similar to the amount of HIV in saliva that it is impossible to HIV in this way? Also would my wound on my finger need to be gushing blood to increase the chances, correct?
Any answers would be much appreciated. Thanks
