the fact that the girl was very concerned, as well, about the condom failure should bring you some relief. i doubt very seriously she would be worried about you giving her hiv if she was already infected.
relax and test at 6 weeks...sounds like you probably dont have anything to worry about BUT testing is the only way to know your status and put this thought out of your head.
follow up at 3 months.
in the future...use water based lube to lessen the chance of condom failure.
you have already been advised not to judge by symptoms. only a test can give a definitive result.
the abscence of other stds is already a good sign (reduces the chances of hiv transmission) but, because there is a risk, you need to test. it will hopefully be negative.
Is it true that thrush does not appear untill the latter stages of hiv? Like I said I've been driving myself crazy trying to find hiv symptoms....any help is greatly appreciated
sorry had a shocker with the last post, I am terrible with typos when its late, meant to say:
Even if there were breast milk present, you would still not be at risk. Saliva contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. Only tiny babies who rely solely on breast milk for their nourishment are in any danger of hiv infection from breast milk and even they are not guaranteed to become infected through breast milk. An adult is NOT at risk from breast milk
You do not need to worry about this at all. The reason why HIV can be passed through breast milk from mother to child is that saliva contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. Only tiny babies who rely solely on breast milk for their nourishment are in any danger of hiv infection from breast milk and even they are not guaranteed to become infected through breast milk. An adult is NOT at risk from breast milk
breast milk can only infect babies.
I'm not sure if you could answer this....what is the likelyhood if I had very lilltle breast milk enter my mouth....the reason I say very little is because the girl was still breast feedind her child....I didn't try to drink the milk or anything but I did accidentally squeeze it and milk came out and landed on my shoulder.....I wiped her breast and later I placed my mouth on it? I hope this isn't too explicit. And also how accurate if at all us that test I took about 10 days later?
Its an excellent guide but you have to test again at 3 months for a 100% conclusive result.6 months is definately not required.
Thanks so much...one question...@ 6 weeks, testing is accurate? I don't want to stress for 3 to 6 months....thank you!!!!
addressing your concerns...yes, stress and anxiety can cause the symptoms you are experiencing.
to know your status...test at the appropriate time.
You experienced condom failure and require testing. Those symptoms mean nothing really.Test at 3 months post-exposure for a conclusive result. 6 months is wrong and outdated.Actually you should test at 6 weeks because you will get an excellent indication as to your status.A negative result is not likely to change when you follow up at 3 months.
