I agree with Vincent and Xhost. After my incident it was like all of a sudden everyone began talking about HIV. I realize they were always talking about it, the difference was that before (as far as I was concerned) it never applied to me,so I didn't pay it as much attention. I was always afraid of it, but after having a real scare, it became as if all talk of HIV or persons infected with it were directed at or included me. In a way its openned my eyes to the insensitivity I had toward the disease and its victims before. There was no personal attachment. Now I sympathize more and see how it can really effect even the most innocent people. And my own fears about the potential impact on my family have made me more aware, not of just the victims but their families. I even found myself being concerned about the impact it may have on the person who possbily infected me if my test comes back positive and I have to tell her that she is positive. I really don't know how I would do that.... I hope I won't have to.

I was going to chime in on this thread, but I am glad I hit the refresh button before doing so, because VincentVega framed my thoughts on this exactly, and much better than I might have. So, I agree with VV, you are hypersensitive to it now, and that is why it seems you see it everywhere.

Its just like when you learn a new word and all of a sudden you start hearing it more often.  The word has always been there, you just didn't notice it because it wasnt part of your vocabulary.  The same goes for many other things.  Take cars for example.  The first time I ever paid any attention to the car that I have is when I saw it on the car lot and bought it.  I thought it was a car that not many people had, but after I bought it I started noticing the same model driving around everywhere.  The things you are hearing and seeing about hiv would be there whether you noticed them or not.  You are just hypersensitive to anything dealing with hiv because it is on your mind.  I hope this helped you.  I know how bad an hiv scare can be.

I dont like the way that looks everybody has a fear of something in life , just dont let it overcome you . HIV is something everyone should be educated about and as long as you practice safe sex and are not a iv drug user you will be fine ...Best Regards ...

I think alot of us feel that way or have . Back in the late 80 and early 90s they made it sound like a fatal diease (INSTANT DEATH )  , but now it is a very treatable diease . I have heard people say it is almost like diabetes .. I think that we all have been instilled a fear of sex and guilt by sex . I would say most people out there are misinformed about hiv and its transmission .I would ask Teak if you have any in depth questions about living with hiv ..      Chilly
