worried sick

On July 29 I had protected anal sex with a male, but that began with unprotected oral sex with both received. He said he was clean, although I know we can't trust everyone. Nothing indicated that the condom broke, and he ejaculated because I masturbated him. This was my first sexual encounter ever.

For the next two weeks everything was normal, however on August 11 I felt slightly ill. Had a 99 fever, went to bed and felt fine the next morning. The next day I had some congestion issues and examined my throat and notice red marks. I immediately associated this with just irritation from drainage. Additionally, I felt a little weak in my legs but just thought that was general fatigue and had a dry mouth for most of the next day.

Well, almost a week later and I am freaking out. My temp has been fluctuating between 98.8 and 99.2, and the congestion has continued, so the throat issue is still there. While my throat looks irritated, I have never experienced any pain. I have had strep MANY times and this does not feel like it. I have been feeling essentially normal, minus some of the congestion issues but when I worry about what this could be I feel ill...

Am I just being paranoid? Or does this indicate any signs of ARS… Sorry if I sound crazy.

Even if the man in question was/is HIV positive, the risk for HIV from giving oral is only theoretical. Oral sex is one of the most common of sexual activities. Receiving oral is absolutely no risk ( saliva is not infectious, hence why kissing is safe). As for giving oral, your saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV.

There have been several longterm studies of sero-discordant couples, both gay and straight. They all had lots of mutual oral sex unprotected and only protected vaginal and anal intercourse. The results were that not a single sero-negative partner seroconverted in 20 years, so you being first????

So you are worrying needlessly. There's no need for testing

You're currently at 22 post exposures. The chances of getting HIV through oral sex is very low risk. A symptom doesn't really mean you have HIV.

However, if you feel that this is related to HIV I recommend you get a DUO HIV AB/AG p24 test done to rule out acute HIV infection for peace of mind if you'd like to.

You can't diagnose HIV merely on symptoms because it could be anything that can be causing that, thus the reason to get tested.

Hope all is well.
