total hearing loss in one hear

I had a recent complete  loss of hearing in my left ear.It happened in just 3-4 hours.Have seen an ENT speacialist,hearing test shows profound loss.The Dr. put me on 60 mg of prednizone,and is scheduling a scan to rule out nerve problem.All I have now is a terrible ringing and air rushing thru sound in my ear.Any comment or suggestions ?please,feeling worried!!

My ENT has me using Fluticasone, but no other suggestions. I am hearing whistling in my ears when I talk. Feels like I need to pop my ears.

I have seen doctors in the past treat this with Valtrex & prednisone.
