21 year old male, chest pains, lexapro

I'm a 21 year old male, 175 pounds, eat well and workout. About 2 months ago I had a super bad anxiety attack. I went to urgent care the next day because I just didn't feel right, my body was still shaky, sharp pains everywhere, heart beating fast. Got to urgent care and they checked my blood pressure, it was super high, but I was in the midst of an anxiety attack. Anyways, they ran an EKG and the results came back fine, I was prescribed to Paxil.I took paxil for 2 days and then had another bad episode, my body got extremely hot within 2 seconds and my hands went numb. I went to the local doctor and was told everything was fine (they didn't run any tests) but the doctor said I had textbook anxiety symptoms. He than directed me to stop taking paxil because he didn't like the medication and perscribed me to lexapro. I took the lexapro and I felt better during the first 2 weeks. Just recently, I've been having bad chest pains, not causing a full blown anxiety attack anymore, but I'm still getting these pains. They are sharp and usually change in their spots, but cause me to feel shoulder and jaw pain as well, it also feels like my heart is beating off pattern sometimes. Here's the thing, I can workout and feel fine, no chest pains...but then I will be woken from the middle of sleep at like 4 in the morning with these pains and not be able to fall asleep again. So I went to the ER last week due to long lasting chest pains one morning with all the other symptoms, they ran another EKG, Chest X-Ray, Blood Tests, and Chest Catscan.. everything came back normal. They diagnosed me with some type of acid reflux and gave me meds, (which I haven't picked up yet) but even after that, I'm still having bad chest pains that occur with no activity..My dad has thyroid problems and I will soon have the Early detection blood tests.any ideas on what this could be? chest pains are scary and really dont help my anxiety :( any help is appreciated. No history of heart disease in family.

There are a number of different causes for chest discomfort -- cardiac, pulmonary, GI, musculoskeletal, and even emotional (anxiety, etc). Having a normal chest CT and EKG (during your episodes) are reassuring signs that there is no significant lung pathology or evidence of a heart attack. However, there are still other reasons -- all of which sound like they are under investigation. Reflux can certainly cause this (especially at night). Overactive thyroid can also produce symptoms like this. Other (although less likely) causes might include coronary vasospasm or esophageal spasm. If you are having extremely high blood pressure, feeling flushed/hot, and an impending sense of doom -- pheochromocytoma is a very rare cause for marked, episodic, high blood pressure and symptoms.
