3year old daughter with SVT/WPW since birth is heart meds causing respiratory problems

My daughter was diagnosed with SVT/WPW at birth. She is now 3years old. It has been a long road for our family. She was put on a heart medication called Sotolol every twelve hours and did well for about the first year on this medication. She suddenly started getting colds and having respiratory problems which ended in hospitalization 3 different times in 3 months. After the first hospitalization her doctor put her on Pulmicort Respules twice a day and Xopenex inhalation Solution as needed and referred her to a pulmonary doctor. He added singular chewable tablets. She was still on the Sotolol heart medication twice a day.  One month exactly after she was hospitalized for the third time we were taking another trip to the ER at 100mph because my daughter quit breathing on us. She was having respiratory failure. Come to find out we were told by a pulmonary doctor that the heart medication caused this and told by the cardiovascular doctor that it was not the medication. Needless to say she was taken off of the Sotolol and put on another heart medication called Flecainide, three times a day. Exactly a year later she has been getting colds frequently again. Along with the colds comes the respiratory problems. She has been sick 5 times in about two months. Her pulmonary doctor had upped the dosage of the Pulmicort Respules given twice a day, given prednisolone when needed, Xopenex as needed, Singular chewables once a day and she is taking Flecainide heart medication three times a day.  My Daughter Is sick again. Her pulmonary doctor added Ipratropium Bromide Inhalation Solution and more Prednisolone to all the other medication she is taking. What is going on. I am not understanding WHY all these medications and it doesn't seem to be working. I have asked the Cardiologist if the Flecainide medication could be causing respiratory problems again. He says no. Does anybody have any input?? How can a 3 year old body handle all of these meds? Please Help!

My daughter was also diagnosed with WPW after having an SVT of 286 BPM.  We too put our daughter on Atenolol.  She was very tired and not able to function on the medication.  BUT it took away the SVTs.  About a month into the atenolol she began to caugh alot then about 2 weeks after that I took her to the ER to find that the atenolol was causing resirtory problems.  She ended up with breathing treatments 3 times a day.  So I took her to her cardiologist and he took her off the atenolol.  Her breathing problems went away with in a month after stopping the medication. Since then we have been treating the SVTs with headstands and ice packs to the face.  I would much rather treat her without the medication, now knowing what the medication can do to her lungs.
She is 7 now.  It has almost been a year since she was diagnosed with WPW.  It was so hard to adjust to our new way of life.  I was so depressed and stressed out for the first couple of months.  But now it is our new normal.  I love her for all she is.  Some times we get crazy looks when cars pass by and we are along the road with me holding my daughter in a headstand...LOL.  But you take it as it comes.
