A rapid Heart Beat and it's relation my thyroid

Dear Doctor, I have recently had some heart problems and have visited my doctor a few times and he informed me that i have a rapid heart beat. he also mentioned that this may be due to a possibly overactive thyroid. I was just wondering if you could please relay some information on how these two topics are related. Thank You for your time and consideration.

Overproduction of thyroid hormone by the thyroid gland can cause a rapid heart rate as well as certain types of arrhythmia. The way to test for this is with a blood test that measures the level of thyroid hormone in the blood.
