AEORTA ANURYSM IN 26 YEAR OLD

I WENT to the doctor today for stomach pains and while i was lyng down on the table she felt my stomach, and she asked how long that i noticed my heart pulse beating in my abdomen, and i told her about 5 years now. she said this wasnt normal. not only can you see it pulsing all the way thru my stomach but down to my pelvic area. im not fat but not the thinnest thing either, and i think that thin people can see this happen sometimes?? so she is setting me up with a heart doctor. but its got me really nervous and worried. is this common for a 26 year old? is it normal to see your heart pulse under the belly button??

Only further testing can show if you have an aneurysm or not.  The visible pulse beat in the abdomen is a classic "screening" sign of an aortic aneurysm.  In other words, if you have this sign, then supposedly there is a strong possibility that an abdominal aortic aneurysm is present.  

I have also read posts on forums like this from people who had a visible or palpable abdominal pulse and did NOT have an aneurysm.  Abdominal aortic aneurysm is rare in young people, so that is in your favor.  Don't panic.  But I think it would be prudent to follow up with a cardiologist, as recommended by your other doctor.  

Hopefully you don't have an aneurysm (and personally I doubt that you do FWIW), but if you did have one and you didn't get it checked out, you could die from it in the forseeable future.  So, unfortunately, I don't think you can afford to ignore it.

Sorry for your trouble.  You've been put to some worry and expense, even if everything turns out fine.  Maybe the cardiologist can put your mind at ease on the first visit.  I hope so.
