Angina and Medications

DJ
I have MVP with mitral regurg. 2+ and mild tricuspd.  I have chest pain on exertion and if it is cold out or in the room.  Cardiologist has tried me on Imdur 30 mg which gave me a terrible headache, and now on Norvasc 2.5.  Not sure how this medication will help the angina.  And could this pain be caused by the MVP or leaking of the valves?  If I cannot take this medication, there may be restrictions placed on my activities.  Does angina mean anything serious is going on with my heart at this point?  Thanks for your help.

My husband went in with cest pains last night. He felt like he had gas real bad but didn't get better until a took a nytro pill. He took one and the pain eased off and finally left but we went into the hopital anyway and they admitted him. The doctor said it was probably angina. He has two stints in his heart from a heart attack a year ago last January.

My question is, could he have more blockage and what can will they probably do for it.

Imdur and Norvasc are good medications for angina, chest pain caused by insufficient blood flow to the heart, usually due to obstructive coronary artery disease. The usual way of diagnosing real angina is with a cardiac stress test. A stress echo might be particularly appropriate to screen for coronary artery disease and to see if the valve leakage gets worse with exercise. If the stress echo were normal, then it is very unlikely that your chest pains are due to your heart.
