Angina

I am 49 years old and just had angioplasty with a stent inserted 2 days ago. Is it normal to have some minor tightness in the chest area, it is somewhat constant and uncomforatble but not painful. The tightness is from mid chest toward the back of the left shoulder, again not pain just can feel that it is uncomforable or that it is there...

thank you!

Yes, I always have that tightness.  You have had a very significant procedure, and during the process of inserting the stent there was lots of invasive stuff going on, and the heart arteries are recovering.  If the symptoms get worse, call your doctor at once, of course, but I've had quite a number of stent procedures and I always have symptoms as you are describing them.  Keep in mind that sometimes there is immediate restinosis (clogging) after a stent, I've had that, and my symptom was extreme fatigue and chest pressure.  I would check with your Cardiologist to be sure if the symptoms continue.  Also, check the archives of this forum for information and support.  Again I must mention that you have gone through a lot both physically and mentally.  Boards like this one can be of wonderful information and support.  Best wishes.
