Angiography without a dye---Can it be done twice to compare results? HELP

by Rahuljaz, Apr 24, 2007 12:00AM

Hi!!,

My faher had some frequent mild pains in his heart (no stroke) & he got the angiography done for it in India.
It was the angiography that was done without using a dye ; where a catherter was put inside making it's way through the groin.
The results said that he is having nearly 75% blockage on his right artery & 25-30% in his other two arteries.
So, the doctors recommended for a bypass surgery.

Now he wanted to get it double check in some other hospital using the CT angiography to see if surgery could be ruled out with some different results/ he is not believing that first technician.
But there in the other hospital, the doc said that CT angiography could not be performed on him because he had high volume of calcium inside him which won't make the dye possible to read as the dye itself is white colored.

Now here comes my question. He wants to get the same angiography done again to verify the earlier results; but from the different hospital this time. Is it possible for him to get angiography done twice within a short duration of say 10-15 days..

Any insight or a candid advice on this will be greatly appreciated. Hope to see some expert's comment on this pl. Thanks a ton / Rahul..
