Aortic Root Aneurysm

I am 61 years old white male with aortic root aneurysm measuring 7 cm x 7 cm considering having an operation. Echo shows aortic valve functioning ok with trivial aortic regurgitation.  Normal size LV with normal systolic function and 71% ejection fraction.  Slightly calcified trileaflet aortic valve.  CT confirms size of aneurysm.

I have interest in my Aortic valve being spared to avoid taking Coumadin.  What are my options?

Thanks,

Thank you for your response.  Could you please clarify the following?

1.  Is it possible to leave the aortic valve in place vs. taking it out and fitting it to the tube?

2.  Can the tube size be fitted to the aortic valve with distorted annulus so it doesn't have to be taken out?

3.  Once the aneurysm is taken out, would this allow the distorted annulus to return to its normal configuration?

4.  If aortic valve is left in place, I suppose it would have whatever normal life expectancy expected for such a valve according to its condition.

5.  If the aortic valve is taken out and fitted to the tube, what is the expected life expectancy for the valve?  Would it be the same or longer than for other biological valves?

Cleveland Clinic is one my options for the procedure.

Thanks,

It is in your best interest to seek out the most experienced surgeon in performing these surgeries so that the aortic valve can be spared. An aneurysm of this size has in all likelihood distorted the aortic valve annulous to a great degree so this may take some reconstruction to achieve a good fit. I suggest that you get the surgery done at the highest volume center you can reach.
