Aortic Root Enlargement

by halftime, Sep 25, 2007 09:17PM
I just had an echocardiogram that showed my aortic root slightly enlarged to 3.8cm.  I've had high blood pressure for a long time.  It's corrected with medication but not enough, according to the doctor.  My question is this: is this aortic root enlargement reversible?  All the topics that come up on Google talk about pretty dismal later-stage treatments like valve replacement.  Does it ever just get better (i.e., revert to normal size), like with exercise and better blood pressure regulation, or is stoping the swelling at 3.8cm the best I can hope for?
