Aortic root dialation and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

by ChuckRZ, Aug 27, 2009 02:00PM
Way back in 06 i was finally diagnosed with high BP ( had high bp for years) that had led to the Aortic root being dialated to 4.7cm. Dr put me on meds and the BP came down to normal levels.

Recently i was told that i had an abdominal aortic aneurysm that was 3.4cm x 3.7cm BUT 7.8cm long.

The 3.7 is not considered bad by most standards. But the length seems be to more of an issue.

My question is. Since i had elevated / high BP for years before ever really being treated and the Aortic root being dialated to 4.7 HOW probable is it that the Abdominal aortic aneurysm was a direct cause / by product of the previous high BP etc.. Meaning that they were probably related to the hIgh pb but that since i had never been checked for the abdominal aortic thing it had just been there all along.

I am a 65 year old male who is physically active on a ranch and i just can not began to imagine having to consider restricting what i physically do.

Thanks
