Arterial transplant

by wvincent, Apr 09, 2008 10:32PM
Is it possible to transplant a healthy artery from one person to replace a damaged artery in another person?  My father currently suffers from Congenital Heart Disease.  Both of his Corroded arteries are blocked...one at 50 % and one at 100%.  He is also considered obviously a high risk patient when it comes to surgery.  They are looking at trying to correct the problem with the artery that is 50% blocked but will not do anything with the other...risk of clots or something.  I wanted to know, if blood type and whatever else is needed matched, that the surgeons could remove some of my Femoral artery to completely replace his blocked Corroded?  Thank you.
