Drug interactions
I take Atenolol, Lodine xl, and zocor. I have elevated liver enzymes and I just read that all three of these medications can cause that. I was taking tylenol arthritis strength every day also. Could all these medications together be causing the elevated enzymes? I stopped taking the Zocor and Tylenol and they didnt' go down much. Thank you

Tylenol and zocor would be the most likely suspects from among that list of drugs but you are correct that the combination may also have an increased effect. Other causes of elevated liver enzymes (hepatitis, gall stones, etc.) must also be considered. Mildly elevated enzymes (<2-3 time upper limits of normal) are not cause for great concern and can be followed as an outpatient. I'm assuming your doctor is following you for this issue.

Have you asked your Pharmasist? He/She would know. I'm sure they have a computer program that would show any interactions between meds if you get them from the same Pharmacy.

id say your problem is the tylenol....that stuff is really hard on your liver. try an NSAID for the arthritis...i suggest viox or something like that
