Hi, My name is Mellissa, I am 19 years old and am 3 months pregnant. I have been diagnosed with moderately severe supravalvular pulmonic stenonsis. I just wanted to say that being pregant with heart disease is a lot to have to deal with. I have to see a lot of doctors, and there are a lot of risks as I have been told.
Dear Snoots,
Any individual with heart disease should be evaluated by their cardiologist and have discussions with an OB before planning to get pregnant. The good news is that in many cases pregnancy is safe and healthy to mother and child. In some higher risk cases extra care must be taken but a successful delivery can still take place. Only in severe heart conditions is pregnancy an absolute contraindication.
