Chest pains, and a heart murmur..

My boyfriend told me a few weeks into our relationship that he had a heart murmur, he gets pains in his chest where his heart is and has to breath deeply for up to 10mins to reduce the pain (this happens around 1/2 times a month sometimes more) and he also passes out & blacks out.. it has happened when we was watching tv, soo im unsure if its related to his heart murmur or not, and was wondering if i should take him to the doctors as he refuses to go.

I forgot to mention that he is only 16, and does walk daily and also rides bikes on a regular basis and is not over weight.. he is only 6 and a half stone maybe 7, at 6 foot 3'ish.
