Cholesterol Numbers

I just received my new numbers and they are:
Total Cholesterol: 240
HDL: 106 (Yes, that's correct!)
LDL:  118
Tri:  68

I know that my HDL is great - but I'm still concerned about the total cholesterol.  Is it true that my HDL is saving me from being put on medication?

I'm a female in my early 40's . Thanks

The recommended total cholesterol level is below 200. Without knowing your medical history  it is up to your doctor to determine whether or not your high HDL level is protective or you need to lower your total value below 200..

Your numbers are not really too bad. Your TC is inflated due to your high HDL which is good. HDL does have a protective quality as it binds with LDL to remove it from your system. Usually, high HDL is a good thing unless it gets over 150. Your LDL (bad cholesterol) is fine as well as are your TGLs, I don't know if I would be too concerned. I would just recheck in a year or so.
