Familial Aneurysm

by scrph, Oct 26, 2008 08:04PM
My  82 year old mother died 3 weeks ago after suffering agonizing pain for 3 hours as her her thoraco abdominal aneurysm ruptured.  I was appalled that the ER MD despite my telling him of Momma's history ordered Toradol Injection for pain initially.  Later after no relief he ordered Morphine 2 mg IV for two doses. While I am no physician I know more could have been done for Momma so that her last hours were not spent with such suffering.  Neither my brothers nor I had any idea that death from an aneurysm would be the way it was.  Each of my brothers and I will have appropriate testing for aneurysm.    I am hopeful that if any one of us develops an aneurysm surgery will be much less risky by that time.
