General Questions about Pac's Pvc's heartrate

29yrs,f/5 children bp normal 115/68 average I have ocd, panic & gad I did not notice these hard beats until about a year ago& over the last year I have learned to cope with them and some days I don't notice them at all& others they can be forceful& come in runs that it scares me. I am finding that sometimes I am perfectly fine& then I will have one$ instantly go into a panic attack like it is the actual trigger> do you hear this as a common complaint? I have had echo, numerous ekgs& experienced these flutters on a holter monitor and have been told I have healthy heart. I have been told I need to lower my cholesterol it is 235 161/74 is it a good thing that lower number is 74? is there any information being brought to the attention of increase of pac's in regards to stomach distress, constipation belching..mine always seem worse then& after eating certain foods?also I have never smoked, nor drink,no drugs& have not touched soda since 1987 outside an occasional ginger ale& am still plaqued by these things.when I feel the forceful beat it creates a sensation that automatically sends me into panic at times..it seems like sometimes it is way more harder it is definately noticable? could it be positonal?can you explain how the heartrate reacts when you are attempting sleep? reason is when I try to sleep& it feels as though I about to drift I sometimes get a jerk& a sensation over my body& my heartrate feels forceful& maybe a little faster, perhaps sleep starts because its only as I am about to drift asleep&quickly returns norm. are pac's worse then pvc's? how common are these really?

Hi,
Visit  http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/mitralvalveprolapse2
At what age did your pvc's,pac's start appearing ?
My heart murmurs were noted at birth , No other members of my family have this.
I don't tolerate hot, cold weather and stay hydrated..........
Did you have complete blood work, Share your nutrient levels, potassium, magnesium ?
Thanks, Karie

I just got back from the cardio man!  He say's that my treadmill stress test showed that my heart functions properly with exersion.  My heart is otherwise normal.  I have MVP which has caused a murmur and pvc's.  I have singal skips and I also get awful runs, one after the other, fairly strong.  They scare me.  Sometimes the runs can last up to 2 hours!  Sometime just 5 minutes.  They are triggered by posture.  That is because of the MVP.  I have some regirgetation happening.  I too have have the same life style as you.  I exercise daily, have a good diet, and am thin.  They say that MVP is more common in thin women.  Did you know that MVP symtoms are seasonal?  Do you ever notice the symtoms are worse certain times of the year?  Deep breathing is working well for me when I feel a run coming on.  I just try to slow everything down and talk to my self.  It does help control how long it will go on for.  I didn't know this when my symtoms first appeared, so I was making it worse by panicing.  He didn't tell me how many PVC's I had.  Where is the MVP chat board?  Does your mother have MVP or the symtoms?  My mom does.  I hope I didn't give this defect to my son!  They say that it's more common in woman.  Where do you live?  Keep me posted with how your doing, I like to hear from you and others who suffer from MVP symptoms.  I'm sure we can help each other out.  My Doctor told me to just get my minerals from a good diet. Do you think I should take supplements as well?  I look forward to your next post and welcome others.  Aloha, Christine

7 years ago when my heart symptoms first started I did a complete lifestyle change and have stayed strong , No caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, and walk daily, lots of water and stay thin.
I have not tried a beta-blocker yet, But filled a perscription for propanolol to take if needed. My cardilogist has me on potassium, magnesium, multi, calcium : I am 34. I have had all the cardiac tests over the years. The pvc's that are so loud and powerful and numerous where one just can't think of anything but our engine. It is a very important organ .....lol
I have mvp, heart murmurs ? Do you have them rated as well ?
Many patients feel better with just lifestyle changes so start there and share with your doctor, Many surgeons don't have great bedside manner., I so respect mine. Hope you visit the mvp board for chats as well.
How many palps were recorded on your test , How low does your b/p run ? Keep us posted.

Yes, the Big Island.  I was told that the cardiologist I'm seeing now is excellent.  He is new to the area.  Dr. Shimkuma.  He picked up my MVP and murr murr right away.  He is very confident with his diagnoses, but could use some better bed side manners.  I have an appointment with him today.  I just had a tread mill stress test.  He said I did good.  I never seem to have a severe attack when I'm with the doctor.  I hate that!  Are you currently taking any anti arrthymic medication.  How about any mineral supplements?  That is what I will talk to him about today.  I would like to try natural things first before I have to take any harsh medications that would probably cause side effects.  I tend to be on the sensitive side as far as drug use is concerned.  I have low BP.  I hope you are getting some relief.  These palpitations make me irritable!  I had a good day yesterday.  It was the first morning I didn't have any coffee at all.  I have been slowly weaning off, though I never had more than one cup.  But maybe it will help if I have none.  What is helpful for you?  Thank you for your post.  Aloha, Christine

Hi Karie, I have been reading about you.  I am in the same boat as you too.  I just posted my first comment.  I hope you will read it.  Let me know if you have any good info for me.  I could use some comfort too!  I'm afraid to take any beta blockers or anti-arrthymic meds.  Are you successfully taking any of these kinds of drugs to help your condition?  I look forward to hearing from you.  I hope your feeling better.  Aloha, Christine

I don't have a problem with premature beats in that they make me panicky or anything.  As far as I know, I don't get them often.
What I am wondering is if anybody can help me out with this experience.  I was at a gathering at my sis' house and got a feeling of palps and felt like I would pass out, very brief episode.  This has never happened before.  A friend of hers happened to be an EMT and insisted on taking my pulse.  She asked if anybody told ever me that I "skip beats".  Could she have just meant PVC's or PAC's?  Can they make you feel like you are going to faint? I didn't ask her because I was embarrassed. (I do have NCS, IST, and valvular disease).  Thanks, guys.

What you describe sounds like palpitations, which is the sensation of one's own heart beat. Your prior studies suggest that you have a structurally normal heart. In the setting of a structurally normal heart, PVCs and PACs do not have a significant impact on a persons long term health. They can be controlled medically with beta blockers.

Your medical history also includes OCD and a panic disorder. Both of these conditions can cause palpitations and symptoms similar to those produced by PVCs and PACs. I would recommend seeking treatment for these conditions, which may result in a reduction in the palpitations you have been experiencing.

Thanks for your question,
