Heart Flutters

For the past month when I lie down my heart feels funny.  It feels like it is fluttering.  When I lay on my stomach my heartbeat becomes strong to the point that I can feel it and hear it in my ears so the alternative it to be on my back and let my heart feel funny.  This morning was different.  I got up and started getting ready for the day and my body got hot and my heart started pounding.  (For no reason). I am overweight and am currently on the Siemeon Diet in which I get shots of HCG and eat 500 calories a day.  I am trying to lose weight and get healthy because my grandmother had heart problems and my Mom and Dad and their parents were all diagnosed with Type II diabetes and I am trying to avoid that. The heart issues began before the diet did.  I have only been on the diet for a week.  So, I know it is not the diet.  Can you help????

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
You have palpitations and this will require further evaluation with a 24 or 48 hour Holter monitor.  see your primary care physician who will be able to order that for you.  Most of the time this is a benin condition and does not require therapy.  In time, these symptoms resovle.  occasionally, however, medical therapy with heart rate slowing medicaitons is necessary in a rare number of cases.  Relaxation is helpful as well.  Frequently these symptoms occur in those who have heightened anxiety level.  Very rarely is this condition serious enough to cause serious problems or require additional aggressive therapy.

Mom, I'm a 30 yr old male and I've been having vague heart issues like you for 6 months now..  i can almost guarantee you the doctor will reply and tell you to wear a holter monitor.   However, i have discovered it is unlikely to show anything in such case,  our diagnosis remains...a mystery :(

I am 25 and have the same fluttering sensation in my chest. Left side to be exact. I have had several tests and all say I am fine. I do have higher than normal stress, but I feel that is a terriable answer. It is a cheap easy way for doctors. I know I am in my last year of Pre-Med starting med school very soon. Though I do not know the full answer yet I intend on finding out why. I hope a mixture of curiosity and knowledge will allow me to better answer this problem. Also does anyone else that has it localized over the left side also have slight spasm in the left arm before or after the flutter?

My daughter went to a heart Dr. and he said that she has an aneurysm in the septum of her  heart but told her not to worry about it. I thought an aneurysm could blow at anytime. As her mother I am very worried and she has a husband and 2 young daughters. Should I be worried and should we get a second opinion. I would feel better if she got a second opinion.
Thanks!
