Thyroid Cancer and heart palps

Hi

I am 48 years old and have a heart palp question. I have heart palps from taking a TSH suppressive dose of synthroid due to Thyroid cancer(about 18 months ago). I had my Thyroid removed so all thyroid hormones are from synthorid. My target TSH level is .1 which is common for Thyca survivors. When my synthroid medication went from 175mcg into the 200's I began to get palps. I wore a monitor and my cardiologist confirmed them as PVC's.

To treat Thyroid cancer I am supposed to keep my TSH at .1 to suppress any remaining cancer cells. My question is what are the long term consequences of having heart palps. I am an age group Triathlete so exercising is critical for me and the heart palps are much more powerful when I exercise. Also, some time they are feeling slightly painful - exercising or during normal activity.

I am just having a hard time accepting that I have to live this way. Any input would be helpful.....Thanks

As long as they are not sustained or happen thousands of times per day, they should have no significant consequences. You can decrease the frequency of these PVCs by taking beta blockers, but these may lower your resting heart rate and decrease your competitive edge by limiting your peak heart rate.
