High Resting HR and Chest Pain

High Resting HR and Chest Pain

I am an 18 female who has been experiencing chest pain since Nov 2008. I had an EKG back in Nov 08 but it came back normal. I also had an MRI of the sternum which was also normal. My chest pain has gotten worse since then. The pain feels as if something inside is pushing out really hard. Its is located more on the left side of my chest. It limits my ability to move (bending forward, back, side to side).

In the past month i started noticing my heart pounding. I started recording my resting heart rate daily and have found that it ranges from 70-130. Its always above 100 in the mornings when I wake up and at night. My BP is normal and usually lower than the norm.

My other symptoms include:
-unexplained weight gain (20-30lbs in 2 months)
-no appetite
-feeling nauseated all the time
-headaches that last all day (Motrin does not help)
-difficulty breathing when lying down
-swelling in abdomen (feeling bloated all the time)
-difficulty sleeping

Additional Info
-I do not smoke or drink caffeinated drinks.
-I have NF1
-not on any meds

Have you had your kidney function tested?  If not, I would ask your doctor to check your kidney function to make sure that they are functioning normally.  Weigh yourself daily and record your weight.  You need to find out if this is normal weight or water weight gain.  Have your liver function checked also, because of the nausea you are feeling all the time.  If you are gaining a pound every day, then see your doctor and bring this information in for him or her to see.  Record what you are eating also daily.  As far as the symptoms of a fast resting heartbeat, that is common in young people.  Mine used to beat between 100 - 130 throughout the day when I was young.  When the heartrate reaches up to 160, then there is considerable amount of shortness of breath and having a hard time talking.  Once it reaches 200 beats per minute, it really is not doing it's job in circulating the blood throughout the body.  Your symptoms you listed are concerning and you need to find out why you have these symptoms.  Document weight and food and see what the results are.  A pound a day is a warning sign that you are retaining water.
