Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and Birth Control Pills

I have been diagnosed with HCM (mild).  There is significant family history--uncle and cousin both died in their late teens during athletic events.  All great aunts and uncles died of heart attacks (ranging in age 45-90).  Two siblings have hypertension and one had a "heart episode".  I am 42, non-smoker and in good health.  I have mild hypertension.  Can I continue to take the Tri-phasil birth control pill?  I've taken it since I was 26.

Was the doctor aware of your prescription for the Tri-phasil?  If so, I would guess it would be ok.  If you have doubts though, I would call the doctor and verify.
